I've called this Elephant Rock Beach simply because that's the name of a rock about fifty meters offshore, and I can't find a more formal name for this beach. The sea is rolling in from Rhode Island Sound near the border of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I waited a considerable amount of time for the sun to set and was rewarded with this image.
I've called this Elephant Rock Beach simply because that's the name of a rock about fifty meters offshore and I can't find a more formal name for this beach. The sea is rolling in from Rhode Island Sound near the border of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The houses in the background are actually in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Timing and chance are everything in photography and this is demonstrated perfectly in this image by the fact that as I arrived the two women in the distance were just walking up on the beach from the sea after a swim. I believe they are an important element in this photograph and that was simply luck.
